Risks
- You may develop an allergic reaction to the anesthesia.
- Most commonly, small hematomas or seromas (amount of blood under the skin) may appear on your skin after thread placement.
- The treated area may look bruised and swollen.
- The areas may also experience numbness.
- A mild infection may occur in the area of the thread insertion.
- With barbed threads, the end of the thread may come out through the point where it was inserted into the skin.
- Patients may develop a pucker, which can be remedied by loosening the threads slightly.
- A thread can be loosened, usually this can happen with free floating threads. The result of this is an uneven or crooked appearance (asymmetry).
