This peel can be used to treat fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone and dryness. The most common ingredient in this type of peel is glycolic acid, a derivative of sugar cane. Recovery is between 1 and 7 days, so we can practically continue with our normal routine the day after the treatment.
This type of chemical peel removes the skin cells that make up the epidermis, as well as parts of the middle layer of the skin or dermis. A medium chemical peel can treat wrinkles, erase acne scars and correct uneven skin tone. It is possible to repeat a medium chemical peel 6 to 12 months after the last one in order to maintain the results. The best known is the TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel, a product that is usually used in concentrations ranging from 20% to 35%. Depending on the concentration, the recovery time may be longer or shorter, but at the very least it will be necessary to stay out of the sun for at least a week.
It removes cells from the epidermis as well as parts of the lower layer of the dermis. Your physician may recommend a deep chemical peel if you have deeper wrinkles, scars or precancerous elements. The most popular is the phenol peel, an acid capable of greatly lightening the skin. However, it should be noted that this product is quite strong, so the skin often loses its pigmentation for a while, being necessary to protect it from the sun for at least 2 weeks, i.e. a minimum recovery period of 2 weeks.
